SPRINGFIELD, IL – As the Illinois Senate finishes its organization for the 98th General Assembly, State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) announced his committee assignments for the current legislative cycle.
Senator Rose will serve as the ranking member for the Senate’s Higher Education and Appropriations II Committees. The spokesman duties will focus on higher education policy and overall education funding levels.
In an unlikely appointment, normally reserved for more senior members of the Illinois Senate, Rose’s ranking membership on the Appropriations committee demonstrates his knowledge of the state’s budget process and a willingness to work through the fiscal crisis.
Senator Rose begins his role as spokesman in two weeks, when the General Assembly reconvenes for the 2013 Spring Session. He will also serve on the Senate’s Education, Insurance, and Energy Committees.
