State Senator Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) released the following statement after the Illinois Senate passed controversial legislation to repeal the Parental Notice of Abortion Act:
“I support the right of parents to be involved in their children’s medical decisions. Repealing a parent’s right to know that their child is seeking an abortion replaces the judgment of parents in determining what is in their own child’s best interest with that of the judgement of the State of Illinois. Not only does this further Governor Pritzker’s and the Democrats’ war on families, but it will actually make it easier for human traffickers and child sex offenders to evade justice. After all, how are parents to know to call law enforcement if they never knew there was any problem to begin with? This abhorrent war on the family must end. Parents – not politicians – know what is in their child’s best interest.”
