Area lawmakers host FREE senior health fair August 5 in Effingham

Area seniors are invited to a free Senior Health and Information Fair August 5 at the Effingham Armory. The event is sponsored by State Sens, Kyle McCarter (R-Lebanon), Dale Righter (R-Mattoon) and Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) and State Rep. John Cavaletto (R-Salem).

Learn what you can do to live a healthier life and take advantage of free onsite health screenings:

Blood Sugar tests (no fasting required)

Blood Pressure tests

Body Mass Index screening

Cholesterol tests (no fasting required)

Hearing screening

Pulse Oximetry (Uses non-invasive method to measure the oxygen level in the blood)

Grip Test

Sleep Apnea screening questionnaire

Spinal screening

The event also includes onsite access to the State Treasurer’s I-CASH computer database of unclaimed property. Information will be available on Prescription drug benefits, Utility savings, Veterans’ benefits and other government services.

The free event will be held from 9 to 11a.m. at the Armory, 1206 West Temple Avenue. Free refreshments and door prizes for those in attendance.
