SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) are announcing a $4.4 million bridge project for the Village of Mahomet for Fiscal Year 2014. The bridge replacement east of Mahomet on Interstate 74 will improve local traffic flow and safety.
The bridge replacement is a portion of the state’s 2015-2019 road construction plan, which will include an $8.5 million resurfacing of Interstate 74 around the Mahomet-area. Additionally, other projects are listed below for the same time period which will affect Illinois Route 47.
$210,000 for land acquisition from US 136 to Interstate 74
$800,000 for utility adjustments from US 136 to Interstate 74
$2.6 million for resurfacing of US 150 from Illinois 47 to Mattis Ave. in Champaign
“This bridge is unsafe and a hazard in its current condition and closed to one lane traffic only,” Rose said. “For the convenience of my fellow Mahomet residents and more importantly the safety of all who cross the bridge I am extremely happy that we are able to get this fixed.”
