State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) says he is pleased the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will begin work Aug. 15 to resurface two miles of the Sidney-Longview Road in Champaign County.
The stretch includes Broadlands Road (CR 200N) to the Douglas County line (CR 00N).
“This is an important project as it will make traveling much safer for motorists and allow our farmers and those in the agriculture community to move their goods more easily through Champaign County,” Rose said. “With a completion date scheduled for September 23, the resurfacing will be done just in time for the peak of harvest season. I want to thank IDOT for making this project a priority.”
During construction, IDOT is cautioning drivers as a minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained. IDOT also says drivers should be alert for fresh oil and loose rock toward the end of the project, and there will be no centerline stripe and “no passing” areas will not be marked until the end of the project.
