Hello,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to House Bill 2827, a proposed measure that would impose unnecessary regulations on homeschooling, restricting parental rights and educational freedom.
Parents know their children best, and HB2827 undermines their ability to make educational decisions that fit their child’s unique needs. This bill adds unnecessary bureaucracy that would create barriers for families who have chosen homeschooling as the best educational path for their children.
HB2827 seeks to increase government oversight of homeschooling through extensive paperwork, testing, and curriculum mandates. These changes threaten the flexibility that makes homeschooling a successful and viable option for thousands of families in Illinois.
Currently, HB2827 is still in the House and has not yet made its way to the Senate. If it does come to the Senate, it will be considered in committee and debated on the floor unless the rules are waived. At this time, I cannot act on this bill, but I want to assure you that if it reaches the Senate in it’s current form, I will be voting NO to protect parental rights and educational freedom.
Please join me in standing against HB2827 by signing my petition here. Your support will send a clear message that we stand for parental rights and educational freedom in Illinois. I appreciate your engagement in this issue, and I encourage you to stay involved by contacting your state representatives to express your concerns.
Yours truly,
Senator Chapin Rose
