SPRINGFIELD, IL – Hundreds of activists seeking to increase the funding for autism research descended on the Illinois State Capitol on April 2 to lobby members of the General Assembly about autism-related issues.
Pam Kelly and Reagan Carey, both officials with the CTF Illinois facility in Charleston, met with State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) to discuss autism funding. The activists were taking part in the annual World Autism Day, which had the 2014 theme of “Light it up blue.”
Recent studies have shown that 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with some form of Autism Spectrum Disorder and that number is likely to continue its upward trend.
