SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) offered the following comments after Governor Pat Quinn delivered his annual State of the State Address on January 29.
“Governor Quinn is in ‘fantasy land.’ The fact is, we are prorating education funding on a daily basis even for basic things like transportation grants. Governor Quinn wants to go on a K-12 spending spree. How about we start with covering the expenses we have now,” Rose said. “On the jobs front, Quinn says ‘all is well,’ but Macon County has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state. No one that I talk with, thinks our state is doing well on the job creation front. We should not be aspiring to a minimum wage society, we should aspire to jobs with benefits that pay, pay, pay! We should be about paying the state’s bills on time.”
