Springfield, IL – The Illinois General Assembly convened for its 104th biennial session on January 8, marking the start of a new legislative term. Senator Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) joined his colleagues at the State Capitol for the inauguration, marking a day of reflection and a fresh start for Illinois’ lawmakers.
“We have a lot of challenges to face in the new General Assembly,” said Senator Rose. “It is good to be back but let’s not forget Governor Prtizker, by his own admission, has dug us into a nearly 3-billion-dollar budget hole, and that is just his numbers. This state needs to do a lot of things. I will be introducing legislation dealing with the reality of where the State of Illinois is, in contrast to the extreme progressive leftist policies that have been shoved down the throats of citizens by Governor Pritzker and his allies.”
For the first time in years, the Senate returned to its historic chamber following the completion of extensive construction and renovations for inauguration and the start of the 104th General Assembly. The convening of a new two-year General Assembly is a time for lawmakers to reflect on the lessons of the past, renew their commitment to finding solutions for current challenges, and embrace new opportunities for Illinois.
Rose plans to focus on Pritzker’s billion-dollar budget, cracking down on immigration, tax relief for families, public safety, parent’s rights, election integrity, agriculture, and other local issues.
