Central Illinois Mayors focusing efforts on Mahomet Aquifer

SPRINGFIELD, IL – A large delegation of central Illinois mayors traveled to the Illinois State Capitol on May 7 to meet with the Governor and legislative leaders about their collective concerns on the Mahomet Aquifer watershed.

A bipartisan, bicameral group of central Illinois legislators that includes: State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet), State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson (D-Urbana) and others have been working diligently on the issue for months through the efforts of the Mahomet Aquifer Working Group.

The May 7 meeting allowed the central mayors to meet with high-level administration officials to ensure that the Mahomet Aquifer’s water quality becomes a statewide priority.
